Programme Guidance
North Cotswold Community Radio started in 2006 with the aim of providing a radio service for a diverse range of age groups and where possible we try to involve local people both on air & behind the scenes. We offer training, opportunities to engage with other like-minded people & a voice for anyone in the community to make their thoughts known. We endeavour to produce interesting, informative programming for people living in or visiting the North Cotswolds and to those who are listening outside our area.

Unlike most other radio stations, whose programmes are targeted to a specific age group, we have a duty to provide programming for all age groups, many with varying interests. This sometimes causes problems as programmes aimed at younger listeners may not be appreciated by our older audience and vice versa. To help overcome these problems, programmes for our younger listeners are generally broadcast during weekday afternoons & sometimes into the early evening. Weekend programmes are generally of a more adult nature.

Whilst we do not condone swearing & other bad language or behaviour, it is a fact of life that young people have grown up in a media age that has allowed this type of language to become prevalent. Their music, particularly rap, sometimes contains words & phrases that may offend. For many young people these words have become the norm, having heard them on mainstream TV or radio over the years and their attitudes and personalities may also have been shaped by what they have seen & what they have heard. Our policy at NCCR is to guide our younger presenters so that they are more thoughtful of the wider range of listeners. However, if we restricted what they can and cannot say their programmes would not appeal to other younger listeners which would defeat the object.

Please be aware that these programmes may not appeal to you & that certain programmes, such as Metal Mayhem, may contain bad language & music that is not mainstream.

We are always willing to listen to the views of listeners of all age groups and will be prepared to act if any of our presenters deliberately cause offence or use NCCR as a platform for abusive behaviour. If you hear anything that upsets or causes offence we want to hear from you. In the first instance please e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  but if you wish to discuss this on the telephone please contact Robb Eden on 01608 651802. We will do all that we can to ensure that yours is a pleasurable listening experience & to ensure that you remain a regular listener. After all, this is your radio station, a station for the whole community and we want it to remain so.

UK media regulators have launched ParentPort, a new website aimed at helping parents make their views heard on issues relating to programmes, adverts, products and services. ParentPort (http://www.parentport.org.uk/) has been set up to make it easier for parents to complain about material they have seen or heard across the media, communications and retail industries. You can find out more about the website here.

YOUTH - COURTROOM DEBATE !!!
Local youth will have a chance to make itself heard on Monday November 1st when North Cotswold Community Radio (NCCR) airs a debate on the rights of youngsters.
Chipping Campden School students and NCCR volunteers Penny Halling and Chloe Carver have organised the debate, entitled ‘Do Young People Have A Right To Be Heard?’ and which will take place in the former Courtroom at the Old Police Station in the High Street, Chipping Campden. The discussion will be aired live on NCCR from 6pm and will look at the problems that young people face when they gather with friends in town and village centres. In particular, the students will discuss the reaction they receive to the clothes they wear and the way they speak, whether they receive a ‘bad press’ and if they should all be ‘tarred with the same brush’. Admission to attend the debate is free and it is open to all, although space may be limited. Listeners can hear it on NCCR from 6pm.

Welcome to a new show on NCCR.
{competition}1{/competition} ROUND ARE WAY is your introduction to some extraordinary people working within our community in the North Cotswolds. Our first RAW features Hugh Phillimore, resident of Charlbury, new dad, music promoter extraordinaire and guiding light behind the Cornbury Festival which happens over this coming weekend starring Paul Simon, Crowded House, The Bangles, Toots & The Maytals and a whole host of other brilliant acts. Special Events Celebrate Radio Re-Launch

North Cotswold Community Radio (NCCR) is celebrating the station's return to its formerly flood-ravaged studio with the announcement of two very special live events at Chipping Campden School Hall this June. Presented in association with Chipping Campden School Parents Association, the events will be unmissable for lovers of gardening and music, with experts in both fields lined up to offer advice and wisdom to an expected audience of around 300 at each.

Val Bourne From 2.30pm on Sunday, June 15th a Garden Show will see NCCR's Gardening guru Paul Williams joined by Daily Telegraph columnist Val Bourne, garden designer and expert plantsman Chris Brown taking questions and offering solutions to horticultural problems. There will also be a selection of garden-related stalls along with tea and cakes. Advance tickets are a mere £5 and are available from Chipping Campden School reception during school hours, Chipping Campden Bookshop, the Cotswold Bookshop and Fosseway Nursery, both in Moreton in Marsh, Stowes Nursery, Mickleton and Sabins Nursery at Ebrington.

Alex James Saturday June 21st (doors 5pm) will see a Midsummer's night Unsigned Music Showcase hosted by NCCR's very own Steve Sutherland ( former Editor of the New Musical Express) who will chair a panel of experts including local farmer and Blur bassist Alex James, Universal Music's A&R chief Simon Gavin, producer and musician Stephen Lipson (who has worked with luminaries as diverse as The Rolling Stones, Whitney Houston, Daniel Bedingfield and Paul McCartney) and MD of Carlsbro Electronics, Andrew Bishop. This is a great chance for local talent to bring their wares to the attention of a distinguished set of music industry specialists.

Aspiring musicians or those seeking a career in the entertainment industry will have the chance to quiz the panel before the cream of local unsigned bands and songwriters take to the stage to perform short sets and receive the pundits' comments. Among those slated to appear onstage are hotly tipped local rockers Souljacker, Blockley's own Kamikaze Union, Oxfordshire-based rock quartet Inlight (who are already attracting major record label interest) and melodic duet No Fixed Abode. One further act is still to be confirmed. Tickets are again only £5 in advance from all the aforementioned outlets, or £7.50 on the door.

NCCR is currently moving back into its bespoke studio in the cells (or 'The Cooler' as it are affectionately known!) of The Old Police Station, Chipping Campden, following its decimation in last Summer's floods. After a successful period of test transmissions a full schedule of programmes is currently being finalised. For full details of this along with up-to-the-minute news of the Summer events, ticket, outlets availability and timings, check out www.northcotswoldonline.com.

NCCR Appoints Broadway Co-ordinator

North Cotswold Community Radio (NCCR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Wall as the station's co-ordinator for Broadway & surrounding areas. Tony presents the Sunday evening show on NCCR with a unique mix of news, hard hitting opinions, dedications and prayers. His first job, aged just 16, was making the tea and fetching studio guests in the lift for BBC Radio Birmingham at the former Pebble Mill. Whilst enjoying a 20 year career as a financier, he has always kept his hand in with broadcasting, with his most recent spell being at BBC Radio Gloucestershire for what was meant to be a six month stint on the mid morning show. Two and a half years later he finally left and went back into his finance company!

A family man with two teenage boys, he is passionate about life in the Cotswolds and lives just outside Broadway. “When listeners email you and you see phone lines lighting up, it really makes you realise that you are part of something much larger” he says. He also finds it quite phenomenal when an email pops in from a listener in Manchester. “There is obviously something magical about the Cotswolds that appeals to others far away” he says, referring to the station's distant listeners via broadband (www.northcotswoldonline.com) and to its many worldwide ex-pat supporters.

As well as presenting, and being part of the overall management committee, Tony will take personal responsibility for the Broadway area and ensuring that it is represented in the programme making and any particular news stories of interest. He is also keen to encourage local people to become involved in both the production and presentation of local programmes and to contribute to existing output, so if you have something to say or wish to promote your organisation, YOUR NCCR NEEDS YOU . " Tony can be contacted via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

With the station finally moving back into its home in The Cooler, The Old Police Station, Chipping Campden, in the next few weeks after a long period of refurbishment made neccessary after last Summer's floods, NCCR Chairman Robb Eden says "at last we can begin to steam full ahead. Tony has been an invaluable supporter of NCCR since its inception and now he will ensure that another quintessential corner of the North Cotswolds is well represented on NCCR”
